Sappi Ngodwana Mill requires a suitable Mill Manager for the Utilities & Services Business Unit to build, sustain strategic and tactical alignment with regional and business unit objectives.

REPORTING TO  General Manager

  • Leads a team of Production Managers and Process Engineers responsible for the plants (Chemical & Recovery and Energy and Services)
  • Accountable for the efficiency of all processes within the Department
  • Monitor monthly the performance of the Plant against the QCDPE objectives given annually by the General Manager, and take corrective action on objectives not met
  • Optimize the effective utilization of Human Resource with regards to career path planning, career development, performance management, training and goal alignment
  • Set goals and appraises immediate subordinates on bi-annual basis giving more frequent coaching and feedback.
  • Control the overall cost effectiveness within the Department.
  • Compile a short term plan (budget) and a long term plan, up to 5 years, and execute the plans to develop the machinery, the people and the best operating practices to ensure the continuous improvement of the plants within the Department
  • Consolidates the forecasts and prepares annual capital, fixed and variable cost budgets for the entire Department.
  • Communicates with the internal / external suppliers / customers
  • Responds to customer feedback and takes corrective action if required.
  • Actively participates in the broader management issues in the Mill as a member of the Management Team
  • Ensures that the department complies in all respects with the relevant statutory requirements (OHS Act, Environmental Regulations) by implementing the necessary control measures and rectifying inadequacies and non-conformances.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment through the compliance to legal regulations and mill procedures (OSHACT, ISO 9002, and ISO14000 and ISO 18002 systems)

  • 4-Year Degree Chemical / Electrical Engineering
  • Management Qualification will be advantageous
  • +10 Years Post Graduate experience in Manufacturing( Paper Industry will be advantageous)
  • +5 Years Management experience
