LOCATION: Head Office - Rosebank Johannesburg

Sappi Trade SA based in Cape Town  requires a procurement specilaist : supply chain to optimise Sappi Southern Africa's inbound supply chains for all imported goods while matching customer requirements with procurement objectives in the most efficient and cost effective manner

REPORTING TO: Commercial Manager - Sappi Trade SA

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY

  • Initiate and enable inventory optimisation and inventory value reduction initiatives for all imported goods
  • Develop, update, document, and implement inventory, transport, clearing, handling and warehousing standardised best practices.
  • Track, trace and report on all inbound supply activities and cost.
  • Translate mill demand for imported raw materials into economic order quantities and create the associated purchase requisitions for Sappi Trade SA to order from.
  • Coordinate inbound planning by populating and updating all import lifting plans and models.
  • Maximise container and freight utilisation. 
  • Provide budgeting and forecasting inputs, pertaining to inbound logistics, to sourcing teams and SA Trade SA.
  • Assist in raw material import business case development by providing supply chain solutions to Sourcing managers. 
  • Implement optimised integrated business processes between Sappi Trade SA, Sappi Export Services and Service providers as it pertains to Imported goods
  • Integrate supply chain processes with respect to material requirements planning, procurement, inventory, delivery and returns.
  • Document and review, in conjunction with the Commercial Manager for Trade SA, processes at each level of the supply chain with clear description of requirements and KPI to execute it.
  • Define and enforce, in conjunction with the Commercial Manager Trade SA, standardisation rules of the supply chain with respect to best practices.
  • Reduce inventory by improving inventory policy, better visibility of potential "stock-outs" and potential redundant inventory.
  • Optimize performance with closer monitoring of individual KPA's, to eliminate the purchasing bottlenecks which seriously impact supply chain availability.
  • Improved customer service with more effective use of the end-to-end supply chain data that is already at their disposal.
  • Vendor manage mill imported stock levels at the mills with zero stock outs as major KPI.
  • Perform customer service function as required by Sappi Trade SA
  • Reduces and eliminated demurrage through planning best practice with vessel, tank farm and warehouse management.
  • Conduct regular import inventory stock counts.
  • Establish and maintain sound co-operative relationships with user departments.
  • Ensure compliance with deliverables as set out in SLA's with the Mills.
  • Participate and represent procurement in management and operational meetings at Sappi Export Services.
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance in relation to quality, delivery and environment.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities and implementing Sappi's BBBEE and Enterprise Development goals.
  • Manage other inbound supply chain staff to achieve the before mentioned KPI's and objective

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant B-degree or relevant qualification
  • 3-5 years' experience in supply chain, freight, logistics environment, customs clearing, warehousing or costing environment.
  • Experience with Imports and Exports critical success factor
