Woodlands Dairy signs the Forest Stewardship Council Vancouver Declaration

 

Woodlands Dairy a local, Eastern Cape based processor of farm fresh milk, who produce, and package high quality dairy products has become one of the signatories of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) "Vancouver Declaration" which was launched on 10 October 2017 at the FSC General Assembly.

The Vancouver Declaration an ambitious new initiative to increase the use of materials from responsibly managed forests. allows businesses who use these natural products to pledge their commitment to increase responsible sourcing.

Woodlands Dairy Chairman & CEO Mr Lex Gutsche said "The launch of the Vancouver declaration is a wonderful initiative which I urge all responsible businesses to pledge support to and thereby do the right thing for our planet".

The dairy which also processes, produce and package high quality dairy products for leading retailers recently achieved 100% FSC logo on their packaging becomes one of the global companies who have already signed the declaration.

Chris Burchmore Regional Director for FSC Africa, said: "Woodlands Dairy pledging its support this initiative shows their interest in working with FSC to protect and restore forest ecosystems. We are very positive that we will see many more African companies joining the initiative."

Global companies like IKEA, H&M, SIG, Marks and Spencer, Jysk, Mitsubishi Paper Mills or Fuji Xerox, Woolworths South Africa have already pledged support to the initiative. The aim is to get more businesses across the entire supply chain on board.
