Second Announcement: 6th Forest Science Symposium: Registration and Call for Abstracts
on from our First Announcement for the 6th Forest Science Symposium,
sent on 17 January, we hope you have all diarised this event for 29
& 30 July this year at Hilton College, KwaZulu-Natal.
Attached please find a Second Announcement with the call for Registrations and for Paper and Poster submissions.
Remember that this event provides
a unique opportunity for the southern African forest community to
interact and discuss research, creating an awareness of the work being
carried out by industry, research and academic institutions.
addition to networking with fellow forestry people, the Symposium will
provide you with the opportunity to listen to three excellent
international plenary speakers in
Prof Brian Via (Director: Forest Products Development Center, Auburn
University), Prof William Dvorak: Director CAMCORE and Mr Evan Shield:
International Forestry Consultant & Recipient of the Hans Merensky
Foundation Fellowship 2014
Attached with this mail is a Registration Form for the Symposium which needs to be completed and submitted with proof of payment by Monday 30 June.
There is also an Abstract Submission Form which needs to be completed and submitted by Friday 2 May.
This year we are having a formal poster session on Day 1 of the
Symposium, and you are welcome to submit abstracts in 3 categories; (1)
Paper (new work), (2) Paper (previously presented/published work) and
(3) Poster (new or previous presented work). These will be reviewed by
the Science Committee and we will informal authors of whether their
papers/posters have been accepted by the beginning of June.
Selected papers submitted in Category 1 will be considered for publication in a dedicated issue of the journal Southern Forests.
