RISI Expert speaking on “Global Overview of Demand for Wood Pulp and Trends in Chinese Pulp Production”

The conference organizers are pleased to announce that Rod Young, Chief Economic Advisor for RISI, will be a featured speaker in Santiago. Mr. Young is a co-founder and former CEO of RISI, which has become the leading information provider for the global forest products industry. Since stepping down as RISI's CEO he has remained an active contributor to RISI’s forecasts and was named Chairman in 2007. With more than 30 years experience analyzing the pulp and paper industry, Mr. Young is internationally recognized as an expert on this sector.

Head of Arauco’s Pulp Division to speak on “South American Pulp Production: Impact on Global Markets and Impact on Domestic Fiber Demand”

By far the biggest expansion in global hardwood pulp capacity in the industry’s history is currently taking place in Latin America. Availability of high quality, low-cost market pulp will of course impact the international woodchip markets, but demand for wood fiber within Latin America will also have more direct impacts on the availability of pulpwood for woodchip exporters. Arauco’s new joint venture pulp mill (with Stora Enso) is starting up in 2014 in Uruguay, and the company is developing another large pulp project in Chile. The conference organizers are delighted that Franco Bozzalla, Senior Vice-President of Woodpulp at Celulosa Arauco y Constitucion SA, has agreed to speak at the conference. Arauco is the world’s largest owner of plantation forests and one of the largest producers of market pulp. Following the conference, delegates participating on the field trip will have a chance to visit Arauco’s industrial complex at Nueva Aldea, which includes a pulp mill, sawmill, plywood mill, and log merchandizing line. As head of Arauco’s dynamic pulp division, Mr. Bozzalla is perfectly-placed to inform conference delegates on this important topic.
