previous page
3 November, 2017
Agri Development Solutions together with Landbouweekblad and with considerable funding support from Agri SA have produced an excellent Land Audit Report, the findings of which are most interesting. The study found that between 1994 and 2016 the percentage of agricultural land owned by PDI's and Government had increased from 14% to 26.7% (or 25 million hectares). On a Provincial basis, ownership varied from between 73.5% in KZN to 4.9% in the Western Cape.
Another major finding of the Audit was that total available farmland had decreased by 79 million hectares in 1994 to 76 million hectares in 2016. This is extremely concerning.
