ICFR Occasional Seminar - Friday 26 September

This is a reminder about our next Occasional Seminar on Friday 26 September at the ICFR in Pmb entitled:   "Projected geographical shifts in optimum growing areas and suitable species of production forestry in South Africa with climate change: An analysis of 19 species/hybrids using multiple climate models"

By Professor (Emeritus) Rolan
d Schulze (University of KwaZulu-Natal)

This seminar will focus on the analyses undertaken for Acacia mearnsii, 13 Eucalyptus and 5 Pinus species/hybrids, based on projected climate change which implies geographical shifts in optimum growing areas of commercially grown tree species/hybrids, but also curtailment because of increases in pests/diseases and changes in dominant species grown in different areas.

The seminar should provide considerable insight and thought for long-term planning of the South African Forestry Industry.

ICFR Conference Room, ICFR, Pietermaritzburg, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Carbis Road
Time:           14h30 for 14h45 -15h45
