International Forest Engineering Summer School

A first-ever, all inclusive forest engineering course is being offered that covers the full scope of harvesting, roads and transport activities. The course targets practitioners (forest managers/experts and contractors), researchers, academics, and equipment manufacturer staff.
Attendees will leave the course enriched and competent in understanding and being able to apply the principles of successfully managing the full forest engineering work cycle.
The course not only teaches all aspects of the forest engineering value chain, but also leaves the participant with set of tools to apply in his/her work environment.
FSC will also be hosting the following FSC courses:
CMO is presenting: FSC CERTIFICATION COURSE - for forestry managers, contractors, government officials and NGOs - A practical approach (3 days).
Course presenter: Michal Brink (400 mandays of audit experience and trained more than 500 auditors world-wide from 80 countries.

- Tanzania: 23 to 25 April 2015
- Pietermaritzburg: 11 to 13 may 2015
- Ghana: 8 to 10 June 2015
- Uganda: 20 to 22 July 2015
Forest certification growing globally in excess of 30% per year, it has
become critical for all role players in forestry to fully understand
the FSC certification process and how it impacts on day-to-day forestry
This includes a clear understanding of:
- Why forest certification is important
- The certification process
Management standard used in Africa, the approach of auditors when
verifying compliance to the standard and when levels of non-compliance
there are in the FSC system.
- The role of stakeholders in FSC certification
