NCT give Oribi Programme a Lift

NCT Forestry has made a R80 000 donation towards the conservation of the Oribi antelope.

The funds will go towards the continued grassland species work, in particular the conservation of Oribi managed and implemented by the KZN Oribi Working Group affiliated to the Endangered Wildlife Trust.

Since 2002, NCT has been involved in the protection of the endangered Oribi antelope and plays an active role in ensuring that its members are encouraged to preserve natural grassland habitats. To date 46 land owners (14 of which are NCT members) have been acknowledged for their contribution in preserving the Oribi.

Oribi have been classified as endangered in South Africa's latest Red Data Book for mammals because of its rapid decline in recent years.
