FSC Stadium of Life shortlisted for the Dezeen Awards 2026
The FSC Stadium of Life, designed by Rise International in Maseru, Lesotho, has been shortlisted for the Dezeen Awards 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious architecture and design competitions.
The FSC-certified project, launched earlier this year, is among the top 50 projects selected from more than 4,300 entries across 91 countries. It has been featured in Dezeen’s top 50: Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) list as part of the newly introduced regional showcases for the 2026 edition of the awards programme.
The regional showcases celebrate the most outstanding projects from three global regions: Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), and the Americas. Curated by Dezeen’s editorial team, the top 50 lists highlight both the diversity of creative excellence and the distinctive design approaches emerging from countries around the world.
This year’s EMEA selection features leading architecture, interior design and product design projects from countries including Italy, Lebanon, Rwanda, France, South Africa and Türkiye.
A landmark for sustainable sports infrastructure
The FSC Stadium of Life is Africa’s first FSC-certified timber stadium, demonstrating how sustainable construction can be combined with sport, community development and cultural expression.
Home to Kick4Life’s football teams, the stadium serves as a hub for a wide range of sports-based social development programmes. The facility also features a unique Biodiversity stand, showcasing indigenous plant species from across the region, and the Theatre of life, an outdoor amphitheatre that hosts educational activities, community events and cultural performances.
By integrating responsible forestry, social impact and innovative design, the FSC Stadium of Life represents a new model for sports infrastructure, proving that environmental sustainability and community development can go hand in hand.
