AfrEquip Celebrates Log Max’s 10 000th Harvesting Head

Log Max’s 10 000th harvesting head is coming to South Africa – it is a Log Max 7000C and is going to be harvesting Pine in Mpumalanga shortly!

It is fitting that this unit was a Log Max 7000C, one of the brands most popular units providing a robust, efficient and productive head that is suitable to many forestry applications. This special head was acquired by one of AfrEquip’s valued customers, Imphisi Harvesting, and will form part of their growing forestry fleet destined to tackle various Pine operations in the Mpumalanga province.

To mark the occasion Maurizzio Spasimante, Director from Imphisi Harvesting and Ryan Neumann, Business Development Manager from AfrEquip travelled to the Log Max factory in Grangärde, Sweden to receive the unit off the production line and embark on a tour of the state-of-the-art Log Max facilities.

“When facing all the challenges Timber Harvesting has to offer you can do nothing other than acquire the best products and support the industry has to offer. From factory to operations, reliable inhouse maintenance and support, I believe we have found the perfect combination and confidently look forward to the future. The Log Max 7000C is an effective and efficient harvesting head providing a great versatile unit operating as a harvester in our Pine cut-to-length systems and as a processor in our full tree length operations”, Says Maurizzio Spasimante – Imphisi Harvesting.

The head is equipped with variable feed roller motors which automatically adapt the speed and traction to the diameter of the stem. These, in combination with Log Max’s unique patented Active Friction Control (AFC) system that feeds the stem through the head with little friction, ensure maximum productivity with improved fuel economy and less wear on the frame. In addition the heads unique Log Mate software system records various harvesting data allowing key production information to be gathered and analysed, maximising productivity and efficiencies.
