Environment invites comments on proclamation of land in Western and Eastern Cape as part of the Cape Floral Region Protected Areas
Members of the public have until 26 March 2021 to comment on the proposed proclamation of tracts of land in the Western and Eastern Cape to be part of the Cape Floral Regional Protect Areas World Heritage Site.
The intention to consult on the proclamation was published in terms of the World Heritage Conservation Act in Government Gazette 44191 (Notice No. 141) by the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Barbara Creecy, on 26 February 2021.
The proclamation affects 382 portions of land within 8 environmental complexes and adjacent to two nature reserves.
These are:
- Garden Route Complex
- Agulhas Complex
- Anysberg Nature Reserve in the Western Cape
- Baviaanskloof Complex
- Boland Mountain Complex
- Cederberg Complex
- Groot Winterhoek Complex
- Hexrivier Complex
- Langeberg Complex
- Riviersonderend Nature Reserve in the Western Cape
- Swartberg Complex
Members of the public are invited to submit to the Minister, within 30 days from the date of the publication of the notice in the Gazette, By email: TNtloko@environment.gov.za (link sends e-mail)
