Fire Safety Made Simpler, With SafeQuip’s New Disposable Extinguishers

SafeQuip, a leading distributor of fire-related equipment, cautions that most emergency call-outs are linked to electrical faults in homes and remote offices, overloaded kitchen circuits, and lithium-ion battery issues in vehicles, including caravans, motorhomes, and trailers.

Why access matters when a fire starts

Having a fire extinguisher on hand can mean the difference between a close call and a major loss, as long as access is not a limiting factor. When a small fire breaks out, an extinguisher that is locked away or poorly maintained, provides little more than false reassurance.

Introducing SafeQuip’s new disposable fire extinguishers

SafeQuip’s latest fire-safety product launch addresses that need with the new introduction of two compact, disposable fire extinguishers designed for fast response, minimal upkeep, and everyday use.

Available from February, the new extinguishers are built to fit real life. They are lightweight, non-refillable, and require no servicing, which means no maintenance schedules, no pressure testing, and no second-guessing whether the unit will work when it is needed.

For everyday home and vehicle fire risks

The 0.6 kg Disposable Dry Chemical Powder Fire Extinguisher is designed to cover the widest range of everyday risks. It can be used on Class A, B, and C fires, including solid materials like wood and paper, flammable liquids, and live electrical equipment. That matters more than many people realise, as electrical faults remain the top cause of house and vehicle fires.

Despite its compact size, this extinguisher delivers strong, dependable performance. It contains 600 g of general-purpose powder. It can handle more than most people expect from an extinguisher small enough to store in a cupboard, car boot, or camper. It is well suited to homes, garages, vehicles, caravans, and small workshops, where different fire risks often exist in the same space.

The second option in the range takes a different approach. The 0.6 L Disposable Foam Fire Extinguisher is aimed at kitchens and living spaces, where cooking-related incidents are more likely. It is rated for Class A, B and F fires and works especially well on cooking oils and fats, which behave very differently from other types of fire and are notoriously difficult to manage once they take hold.

The foam agent forms a layer over the burning surface, helping to smother flames and reduce the chance of flare-ups. It also leaves far less residue than powder, which makes clean-up easier, an important consideration in kitchens and food preparation areas. This extinguisher is not suitable for live electrical equipment, which is why understanding where to place it matters just as much as owning one.

Lightweight and designed for easy storage

Both extinguishers share the same compact footprint and weigh just over 700 g. That makes them easy to store in places where traditional extinguishers are often skipped altogether. Under the sink, in a pantry, in the car, or in a caravan cupboard. Their disposable design removes one of the biggest barriers to fire safety in homes and small businesses: maintenance. There is no servicing involved. Once used or expired, the unit is replaced.

Understanding fire classes helps prevent costly mistakes

Fire classes can sound complicated, but they are really just a way of matching the extinguisher to what is burning. Class A covers everyday materials like wood and fabric. Class B is for flammable liquids. Class C applies to live electrical equipment, whereas Class F applies to cooking oils and fats. It is critical to use the correct extinguisher, as the incorrect one may not stop the fire and may even exacerbate it. When there is no time to waste, clear labelling makes it easier to make the right decision.

Fire safety that fits modern homes and travel

Disposable extinguishers are not about taking shortcuts or cutting costs. They are about fitting into real life. Homes are smaller, people travel more, and many households move between different spaces. Fire safety that works around those realities is far more likely to be used when it is needed.

Fire safety does not need to be complicated to be effective. In many cases, it comes down to having the right tool close enough to grab. When seconds matter, simplicity makes all the difference. SafeQuip’s disposable extinguishers are designed to be placed where fires are most likely to start and where quick action is possible. Because fire safety only works when it is easy to reach and easy to use.
