Focus on Forestry 2019 - Bridging the digital divide - Call for presenters and presentation topics

Focus on Forestry 2019, organised CMO and NMU, is being held in the Mpumalanga Lowveld from 17 to 19 April. We are a year away from the event, but we are already at advanced stages of planning. Focus on Forestry now has a wider scope of including Silviculture, Fire management and Forest engineering.

We would appreciate you making any comments and suggestions regarding possible presentation topics and presenters. This year's theme is "Bridging the digital divide in the African forestry sector". The theme, will explore the issues and opportunities surrounding the integration of digital technology in mechanisation and modernisation of forestry activities in Africa, as well as bring this topic to the important Mpumalanga forestry area. The theme will holistically examine all aspects of mechanisation and modernisation within Silviculture, Fire management and Forest engineering, including aspects such as new technological advancements, research results, field experiences, productivity, planning, training, social issues and safety. This theme is of great importance and will provide a unique opportunity for professionals and organizations to exchange technical and scientific knowledge and information.

As with previous years, the organisers would like to ensure that they consult widely to guarantee that the needs of our industry are met. Please send a short email through to me with your comments or suggestions by Friday 11 May 2019. The suggestions will be consolidated into the Focus on Forestry programme.

Please feel free to pass this on to others in your organisation.

Kind regards,
