Invitation to a workshop on compliance with new Methyl Bromide usage procedure in South Africa

The Department of Agriculture, Land reform & Rural development and Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment hereby invites all role players involved in the importation, distribution, and use of Methyl bromide (Importers, distributors, fumigators, Freight Forwarding Agents) to the following workshop.

The purpose of the roadshow is to:

  • Update stakeholders on discontinuation of Methyl Bromide in South Africa
  • Update stakeholders on the country status regarding Phasing Down of Methyl bromide and phasing in of Alternatives
  • Update stakeholders on current Compliance and Monitoring systems guiding the use of Methyl bromide
  • To update stakeholders on current approved Methyl bromide usage categories approved for treatment with methyl bromide.
    The roadshows will be conducted in four provinces namely: Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, Eastern Cape, and Western Cape.

NB: Attendance certificates will be presented to attendees of the meeting. Failure to attend the workshop may result in some suspended on their authorisation to use methyl bromide.
