It also features a vertical pleated air filter for improved air supply quality and extended service life.

The BT 131 is lightweight for all-day operation, and other user-friendly features include reduced emissions, a low-vibration handle frame, and large support cushion.

Its semi-automatic choke lever facilitates a simplified starting procedure that reduces the chance of flooding, while the STIHL Quickstop® auger brake automatically stops the bit from turning if it hits an underground obstruction. The STIHL BT 230 model has a 2-stroke motor and is lightweight and compact at just 10.9kg, with uncomplicated features for easy handling, servicing and maintenance. This 40 cc auger is able to produce even bigger holes up to 30 cm in diameter, so it is ideal for the planting of larger trees and poles. It is also extremely robust, with a support frame that protects the engine unit on all sides. The use of a market-standard 20mm connection adds to this auger’s adaptability and convenience as this allows the fitment to the frame of most standard auger bits on the market today. A special STIHL adaptor facilitates the attachment of various STIHL auger models.
