Warm Welcome To Sabie Poles
Sabie Poles is a neighbour to Dolphin Bay, sharing a back fence with our Sabie factory.
But it was the two companies’ shared values of honesty, integrity, and loyalty that made Sabie Poles choose to sign up with us recently, explained Marina Daniel, the owner, and chief operating officer.
The well-known timber treatment company is located on the aptly named Bandsaag (Bandsaw) Street in Sabie, in the heart of Mpumalanga province’s timber country.
Sabie Poles is well established, having opened 30 years ago as a small operation. Within a year, it had received the SABS 457, 1288, and 0255 marks of approval, become a member of the South African Wood Preservers Association, and received an environmental competence certificate.
In 2005, it acquired its own eucalyptus timber farm, and as the business grew, it was awarded National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications approval as a reputable treated pole manufacturer.
In 2019, it installed a timber moulding plant to expand its product range.
“We are a family-oriented business,” said Marina. “Over the years, we have added more products, as well as our own timber farm, to ensure adequate and more specialised timber supply. We have also branched out into international markets.”
“We would like to grow, but without compromising on our customer service, quality, and integrity.”
As the business enters its fourth decade, the Sabie Poles team continues to look to the future. “We would like to grow, but without compromising on our customer service, quality, and integrity,” said Marina. “We would also like to see Dolphin Bay and Sabie Poles join hands in uplifting our community.”
“We both want to go to the next level in terms of quality, service, and developing people,” said Mark. “Dolphin Bay has already started operator training and educational courses with Sabie Poles’ plant operators – and that level of service will continue as our relationship develops.”
“Dolphin Bay have gone out of their way to assist us in upgrading our plant and to train our staff in all aspects of CCA treatment,” Marina said. “Our treatment plant operators weren’t only shown how to treat, but also why we need to treat our timber.
“Our staff are very important to us, and Dolphin Bay made staff feel competent and part of the team.”
“Dolphin Bay is very happy to welcome Sabie Poles as a new customer,” said Bertus. “We understand there is a certain resistance to change and a leap of faith that needs to be taken in changing a supplier. We want to thank Sabie Poles for taking this leap and for trusting us. It is something that we do not take lightly.”
“We value having Sabie Poles as part of our Dolphin Bay family and look forward to developing the relationship in the years to come – and we’ll keep on saying ‘Hello!’ over our shared back fence!”
