John Deere is reorganising its technology portfolio and doubling its efforts to provide solutions designed to increase its customers’ efficiency and productivity.
The Precision Forestry Initiative aims to deliver increased customer value by focusing on three core areas: production systems, technology stack and life cycle solutions.
“Previously, the industry focused on developing bigger, faster, more powerful machines to boost performance. But larger machines sometimes present more challenges, especially on job sites with limitations,”says Matthew Flood, product marketing manager, John Deere. “Technology is a game changer for the forestry industry, enabling us to improve operator efficiency and performance without altering machine size. With the Precision Forestry initiative, we’re organising our portfolio to create a foundation for the future of forestry machines and job site technology.”
The technology suite includes realtime, map-based production planning and tracking and new and evolving operator assistance capabilities. It will make it easier for foresters to select and adopt customised solutions based on their unique job site needs.
“The logging industry is built on hard work; it is part of our DNA. We want to complement that work ethic with machine intelligence and technology tools that increase efficiency and performance. We believe that loggers need to embrace working smarter, not harder, in the forests,”says Flood.
