MTO Ecotourism offering

In addition to the MTO Group’s ecotourism, in 2022 the company has added accommodation as part of its offerings. The new Jonkershoek Valley Cottage, in Stellenbosch was the first of many to come at this site and we are sure that visitors will feel immediately at home given the high standard at which it has been finished.

Wide open skies, the soaring mountains of the Hottentot-Hollands, and the smell of roasting coffee greet Jonkershoek Valley Cottage overnight guests.  The Cottage has been completely transformed from its humble origins as a worker’s shelter.  Sleeping six, Jonkershoek Valley Cottage offers an open-plan kitchen/lounge, bathroom facilities, log burner for those romantic getaways and to spread warmth and cheer on the not so warm starry nights.

The cottage is conveniently located at the entrance to the Jonkershoek trails, and right next door to the Balance Coffee Roastery and coffee shop.  The unmistakable warm aroma of freshly roasted java made from premium beans is there to greet guests as they awaken from a sound and peaceful night’s sleep under the great oak tree overseen by the majestic mountain that keeps guard over all below.

This was followed by the refurbishing of the already existing accommodation facilities in the Garden route, which saw the erection of cabins, using the company’s own cross laminated timber (CLT). The CLT huts, including two-man A-frame units and larger six-person huts, have been built, and existing huts have been refurbished. Communal meeting, cooking and washing facilities have been upgraded to include hot water donkey boilers, showerheads and outdoor showers, along with solar-powered electricity points with USB and other charging ports.

Our beautiful Stone farmhouse situated in the heart of the MTO Trails Centre in White River, Mpumalanga, is a self-catering home which accommodates 10 guests. Over 100 years old, the original architecture and beautiful views provide the ultimate gateway destination. The Stone House offers a warm and stylish retreat for outdoor enthusiasts and travellers. The perfect getaway from the city for groups, families, couples or single travellers, even well-behaved dogs are welcome.
