Educatius Exceeds Tree Planting and Sustainability Commitments in 2023
Educatius, a leading provider of high school exchange programs, announced that it will exceed its annual sustainability commitments in Tanzania this year, thanks to the collective efforts of the Educatius community.
Since 2009, Educatius has been a staunch supporter of Aiducatius, nurturing sustainable communities through global tree-planting and access to education initiatives. In Tanzania, its typical annual contribution of 12,000 trees will be almost doubled this year, with the planting of an additional 10,042 indigenous fruit and cypress trees. The additional trees will cover 20 acres of land (about the size of 20 American football fields) and will be responsibly planted during the upcoming rainy season, when newly planted seedlings have the best chance to flourish.
Aiducatius’ sustainability impact extends far beyond simply planting trees in Tanzania’s soil, with the overall goal to create thriving communities in partnership with local community leaders. This is achieved through complementary projects such as training local families to build fuel-efficient stoves to save money and conserve trees, planting fruit-bearing trees at schools and in communities, establishing bee colonies, and providing support for the management of previously planted forests.
Educatius’ commitments to Aiducatius tree-planting and forest conservation projects in 2022 alone have benefitted 60,000 youth living in the surrounding area.
As stated by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, “Ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”
Educatius takes great pride that Aiducatius’ activities align with (UNSDG), particularly those related to quality education, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and partnerships for the goals. The success of these sustainability endeavors is a testament to the collective efforts of students, host families, agents, and schools participating in an Educatius program.
Educatius students, host families, and schools not only gain access to exceptional international educational experiences but also can be proud that they are important contributors to creating a better, and more sustainable world. One tree at a time.
