Efficient power in focus for both Husqvarna and Stihl

They’ve been part of Elmia Wood since the very beginning in 1975 and remain as essential to the fair as the freshly wood-chipped trails underfoot. With dynamic and engaging booths, both Husqvarna and Stihl are must-visit stops for any attendee. This year, we invited them to highlight one key product innovation each – and one trend is clear: high-performance chainsaws that combine power with maneuverability are very much in focus for 2025.

Lasse Strandell, Product Specialist at Husqvarna, welcomes visitors to the test area, where attendees can try out a variety of models.

“There’s been a lot of interest in testing. Our initial log pile ran out already on the first day, so we had to bring in more wood,” he says with a smile.

Compact power with professional performance

What visitors are especially eager to try is the new 564 XP® G.

“This is a brand-new chainsaw that will be fully launched this autumn – but it’s making its premiere here at Elmia Wood! A revolutionary 60cc saw developed for forestry professionals and arborists who want groundbreaking performance. It combines the compact size and maneuverability of a 50cc saw with the power of a 70cc model.”

The 564 XP® G features an innovative combination of advanced technologies, including a newly developed fuel injection system and a redesigned engine that delivers instant acceleration and high productivity throughout the workday.

User experience has also been enhanced, with easier starts and low vibration levels that reduce strain on the body. The saw is also built with Husqvarna’s Short-stroke concept, which improves balance and contributes to better ergonomics for the operator.

STIHL introduces new fuel and showcases flagship 60cc saw

For Clara Bergström, Product Manager for the professional segment at STIHL, the impressions are similar.

“Our new MS 400 is a 60cc professional chainsaw where the power-to-weight ratio is hard to beat in its class. It feels compact when limbing and powerful when felling,” she explains.

It’s also the small refinements that make a difference.
“Minor adjustments that have a big impact. For example, the handle has been reshaped to be slightly rounder than before – something you’ll really appreciate after using it for a while.”

The underside of the saw has also been smoothed out along its length.
“This makes it easier to limb and contributes to a perfectly balanced saw overall. It’s easy being a product manager when you get to showcase a saw like this at Elmia Wood.”

What else has caught the attention of visitors?

“Our first truly professional battery-powered clearing saw for forestry, the FSA 400 K, has been a major talking point. And we’re also launching MotoMix BIO – a new fuel suitable for both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. Parts of the fossil-based raw materials in the production process have been replaced with renewable alternatives, following an ISCC PLUS-certified mass balance approach. According to our internal life cycle assessments, this can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 74%,” says Clara Bergström.
