Lonza Welcomes New Export Manager to Their Team
Lonza Wood Protection is pleased to announce the appointment of Theshin
Naicker as the new Export Manager who will be looking after their East African
customers as well as Limpopo and northern Mpumalanga customers. He brings 22 years
of industry-related experience to the position, which spans across sales, production
and site management.
Senior Business Manager of Lonza South Africa, JJ du Plessis, said: "We
are very excited to welcome Naicker to our team. Through our longstanding customer
relationships, we have built strong confidence in Tanalised® wood preservative
products and in our engineering expertise. With Naicker onboard, we look
forward to driving further growth in our target markets by fostering our existing
relationships and expanding our footprint in the East African market. Our focus
is to provide all the support we can to our customers to ensure that Tanalised®
treated timber remains the product of choice."
Naicker's main responsibility will be export sales, but with his vast
scope of industry-related experience he will also be able to support customers
outside of his area of responsibility. Over and above Naicker's good
understanding of treatment plants, his experience with sawmills, kilns, the day-to-day
operations and an in-depth knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety
regulations put him in good stead to provide on the ground support with plant
operations efficiency, operators training, Tan-Treat® training and record
keeping. Furthermore, he will be working closely with Lonza's Sales Engineer,
Robert Fourie, to facilitate any engineering support, plant maintenance and
Naicker graduated in Wood Production Engineering in 1996 at the Nelson
Mandela Metropolitan University. His career was set in motion with his first
appointment as Production Foreman at Mondi where he was later promoted to
Drymill Manager. He broadened his knowledge and experience during his 8-year
tenure at Merensky Limited and his 4-year tenure at Tekwani Sawmill while
working in the positions of Wetmill Manager, Hardwood Manager, Sawmill Manager
and KwaZulu-Natal Regional Sales Manager.
"I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to the table.
This position gives me the chance to use my extensive understanding of the
timber market while embracing new opportunities as a chemical supplier to the
industry. Lonza is a distinguished company with an outstanding track record for
excellence. I consider it a privilege to be a part of this team and look
forward to building meaningful relationships with our customers," said Naicker.
Born and raised in Durban, Naicker is a family-man and with his wife,
Cindy, they have two children aged 14 and 12. He also coaches school and club
rugby, is a referee with the Sharks Rugby Union and is an avid soccer fan who
Du Plessis concluded, "This appointment has
further strengthened our team and since joining Lonza on the 1st of
September, we have already received compliments from our customers on our
decision to appoint Naicker. He is a great fit for our business, and we are
pleased to see that he is already adding value to our customers' businesses too."
