Tigercat Levelling Harvester Surpasses 25 000 Operating Hours

As authorised dealers of industry leading forestry brands such as Tigercat and Log Max, it is no surprise that AfrEquip supplies and supports the ultimate in cut-to-length harvesting equipment, offering highly productive and fuel efficient solutions that are able to withstand South Africa’s harsh forestry environments.

AfrEquip offers the perfect purpose-built carriers in their range of high performance Tigercat levelling harvesters. With many units operating within the South African Forestry sector, the Tigercat LH822E has proved itself a long lasting, versatile carrier with extremely efficient fuel burn.

This is evident in the Tigercat LH822E unit that has amassed a large number of operational hours working in Merensky Timber’s tough Eastern Cape conditions.

Sean Brown – Merensky Timber’s Resource Executive Manager – comments, “Our Tigercat LH822E, which has over 25 000 operational hours, is a robust, compact carrier that is well suited to clear fell operations in steep terrain.”

The combination of high horsepower, reduced fuel burn and harvester head optimised hydraulics provide a highly productive unit offering an efficient cost per tonne of processed logs.

“The Log Max 7000C is a robust, productive and efficient harvesting head providing a great all round unit for Merensky’s Pine cut-to-length systems”, Says Sean Brown.

The head is equipped with variable feed roller motors which automatically adapt the speed and traction to the diameter of the stem. These, in combination with Log Max’s unique patented Active Friction Control (AFC) system that feeds the stem through the head with little friction, ensure maximum productivity with improved fuel economy and less wear on the frame.

With over 18 years of experience supplying market leading forestry equipment into the industry and the largest fleet of forestry specialised mobile technicians operating from their headquarters in Pietermaritzburg and branches in Mbombela, Mkhondo, Richards Bay and Ugie, AfrEquip is well equipped to provide forestry equipment that meets and exceeds customers’ high expectations.
