The new six-wheel 768L-II Bogie Skidder from John Deere is a purposebuilt machine designed to conquer wet conditions and steep slope terrain.

“Profitability and productivity are critical, and foresters need dependable machines,” says Matthew Flood, product marketing manager, John Deere.

The 281 horsepower 768L-II features heavy-duty bogie axles with large components to maximise durability and stability for long axle and tyre life. The smooth, stable operation results in reduced machine vibration, which minimises operator fatigue. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) provides more power to the ground by sensing the load and increasing torque and tractive effort to maintain the desired speed.

The bogie axles reduce ground pressure, which allows the 768L-II to work in wet terrain not accessible with a four-wheel skidder. Depending on the site, foresters can even extend the harvesting window. The operator has an excellent all-round view from the cab. The long wheelbase and boomarch envelope boost reach and lift capabilities for the boom and grapple and increases manoeuvrability. The tight turning radius enhances agility at the landing.

Streamlined and redesigned electrical and hydraulic systems improve uptime and improve guarding and critical components protection. An increased grapple squeeze force, two-speed winch and articulation steering sensors improve operator productivity.

The skidder has a spacious cab, ample storage space, configurable controls, and HVAC system. Armrestmounted electro hydraulic controls offer accessible, hand-finger operation of all machine functions, and joystick steering provides smooth control of steer, direction, and ground speed.
