The National Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries is currently running consultation workshops soliciting the sector’s input towards the finalization of a Policy on Comprehensive Producer Development Support (CPDS). Forestry South Africa has been involved in the Reference Group guiding the development of this Policy, and we do believe that if well written this policy could elevate forestry as a sector to enjoy similar benefits to agriculture commodities in terms of development finance.  We, therefore, advise members to attend these consultation meetings and make the necessary contributions.

FSA staff members might not be able to attend all the Provincial consultation workshops, but our members could use the comments attached herein as a basis of their submission in these meetings. Hopefully, FSA will be given an opportunity to make comments again before the policy goes back to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries
